Since tiles are made with natural materials, we like to refer to them as a “green” option for your home. Not only that, but tiles are also incredibly durable and allergy friendly.
Below, Jim Aaron explains how to choose the perfect tile for your home.
Types of Tile Options
We have three main tile options to choose from including: ceramic, porcelain, and stone.
Porcelain and ceramic tile are popular and common options for kitchens and bathrooms alike. Both are made from the same materials, but porcelain is classified by how dense it is. Porcelain’s density determines its resistance to moisture as well as its durability. Ceramic tile is budget friendly, and comes in a wide variety of styles. Both options come in a wide variety of colors, styles, and patterns to choose from.
A unique tile option we carry is natural stone. Stone may be priced higher, but since it is almost never quarried from the same location, no two slabs look alike which allow you to have a totally custom looking floor.
In order to know what type of tile you need, you’ll need to know what room you are installing the tile in. Tile comes in different densities and some are denser and can handle wear and moisture better than others. Even the glaze on a tile can determine how stain resistant it is. For bathroom and kitchen tile, choosing something that is dense and slip resistant is definitely a good way to go.
